Formats
A format is a kind of value no one provider issues. The agent asks for one with format, such as
format: "postgres_url" for DATABASE_URL, and the field says what the value is and checks it. A
key with no provider and no format, whose name no provider's key goes by, is text.
This page is built from the registry offprompt ships, so it lists exactly what the tool accepts.
| Format | What it is | Checks | Field |
|---|---|---|---|
text | anything | none | one line, masked |
integer | whole number | a whole number | one line, masked |
hex | hex string | hexadecimal characters only, 0-9 and a-f; at least 8 characters | one line, masked |
base64 | base64 value | base64, padded to a multiple of 4 characters | several lines, in the clear, with a file picker |
email | email address | an email address | one line, masked |
url | URL | a URL starting with http:// or https:// | one line, masked |
hostname | hostname | a hostname, with no https:// or path | one line, masked |
uuid | UUID | a UUID, such as 123e4567-e89b-12d3-a456-426614174000 | one line, masked |
jwt | JWT | a JWT, three base64url parts separated by dots | several lines, in the clear, with a file picker |
pem | PEM block | a PEM block, with its BEGIN and END lines | several lines, in the clear, with a file picker |
json | JSON document | a valid JSON document | several lines, in the clear, with a file picker |
postgres_url | Postgres connection string | a postgres:// or postgresql:// URL with a host | one line, masked |
A postgres_url field links to Neon, PlanetScale and Supabase, where someone who has no Postgres connection string yet can create one.
A one-line value is masked unless the agent asks for it with secret: false. Formats that take
several lines are shown in the clear, and a file dropped on one of their fields fills it whole,
which suits a PEM key or a JSON credentials file.
