Providers

A key from a provider gets the provider's logo on the page, a link to where the key is made, and its checks. The agent asks for one by naming the variable the usual way, such as STRIPE_SECRET_KEY, and offprompt knows the key from the name, with framework prefixes such as NEXT_PUBLIC_ dropped. Under any other name, the agent says which key with provider, as in Asking for values.

The checks are loose on purpose, mostly a prefix and a wide length range, because a rule that goes stale blocks a valid key. The prefix catches the most common slip: pasting a key from the wrong provider. Two more checks apply to every value and show only when they fail: at most 8,192 characters, and, for a .env, a value the file can hold.

Each provider's page lists its keys, where each is made and the names it is read under, with the fields offprompt's page shows for them. This page is built from the registry offprompt ships, so it lists exactly what the tool accepts. To add a provider, see Adding a provider.
